St. Francis Episcopal Church is a mission church in the historic Diocese of South Carolina. We are a group of Episcopalians who are continuing with The Episcopal Church under the leadership of our Priest-in-charge, the Rev. Dr. Michael Shaffer. We are a diverse group of believers who find strength in being together at the table and then going into the world to share God's love.
We began meeting as the West Ashley Episcopalians on March 10, 2013. We have since named our parish St. Francis Episcopal Church, held a parish meeting, elected a vestry, supported our community through outreach, and held worship services! We were made a mission in The Episcopal Church in South Carolina on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the 223rd Annual Diocesan Convention. After 5 years of worshiping at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, we are excited about our next chapter with our friends at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.
We welcome all to our Holy Eucharist Rite II service and other activities. Holy Eucharist Rite II means that we serve communion each week and follow the more contemporary liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer. Children are an active part of our service and we encourage you to bring your children into the service with you.
